Women in Spanish
This group was established since November of 1995. Nearly all therapists would agree that a support group is the most effective way to help most female victims of domestic violence. What set this group apart from all others in Houston is the mere fact that it is run in Spanish and gives most Hispanic clients a sense of comfort. Most of the clients in this group are Hispanic women who feel that they have nowhere to go and therefore, are seeking support. This group focuses solely on encouraging these women to become more self-sufficient and preparing them to live independent lives in the U.S.

Women in English
The English group was developed due to the increasing number of Hispanic women that needed help but could not speak Spanish. The aim of this group is to help women overcome the emotions and behaviors that have developed through years of violence.  The group empowers women to seek positive, individual changes in their lives.

Men in Spanish
This group was created primarily for the men who play a part in the lives of our female clients. The men's group serves as a support group with educational topics that cover anger management, parenting skills, communication skills between partners, drug and alcohol use, and domestic violence. It is facilitated by Mr. Jesus Hernandez, who conducts the meetings in Spanish.  There is a small charge of $20 per session.

Men in English

Just like the women's group in English, there has been an rising need for a group to be run in English, especially regarding cases with CPS.   The men's group serves as a support group with educational topics that cover anger management, parenting skills, communication skills between partners, drug and alcohol use, and domestic violence. It is facilitated by Mr. Gerardo Duque, a counseling intern and recent graduate of University of St. Thomas.  There is a small charge of $20 per session.

Support for Children

So many people target the abuser and the victim, giving them attention in changing their habits to create a better family structure. But what happened to the silent ones, the traumatized ones? In the realm of domestic violence, the children are the most overlooked, and although the parents may have changed their ways, the children may start displaying abnormal and possibly aggressive behavior if they are not given the proper attention. Individual counseling is offered for children to educate them and to help them understand and target their inner feelings that were held inside during the domestic violence. It is offered free of charge to any parent attending any of the La Rosa support groups on a continual basis.
